first_imgEquipment set on fire at Mountain Valley Pipeline site investigated as arsonA piece of earth moving equipment has been set on fire at Mountain Valley Pipeline construction site in Virginia, causing $500,000 in damage. Authorities received a call on Saturday night reporting a car fire but when they arrived they found a Caterpillar PL87 pipe layer located in the pipeline construction right-of-way ablaze. The fire damaged no other equipment. Fire marshals have decided that the fire was set intentionally and are investigating it as arson. The proposed Mountain Valley Pipeline is a 303-mile pipeline that will run from northwestern West Virginia to southern Virginia. Malec Brothers withdraw permit to use methyl bromide in Columbus County, NCAn Australian company that had planned to emit up to 140 tons of toxic compound in their log fumigation business has withdrawn their air permit to emit methyl bromide, says the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). The plan encountered strong public opposition and state officials scrambled to petition the Environmental Management Commission for a new rule to add methyl bromide to the state’s list of air toxins. Methyl bromide has been banned internationally for most uses because of its toxicity and ozone-depleting properties, but log fumigation is an exception. China will accept only exported logs that have been fumigated, but Malec Brothers has decided to debark the logs instead. The fumigation would have taken place less than a mile from a school.last_img read more

Rob Lowe wore a bland NFL hat to a bland 49ers vs. Packers game, and fans made plenty of jokes

first_imgShortly after his appearance on TV, Lowe was ridiculed on Twitter. He eventually saw some of the discussion and chimed in with a response.I didn’t expect my hat to be the most interesting part of this game!— Rob Lowe (@RobLowe) January 20, 2020Unfortunately this does not answer the question as to why Lowe owns this.Nevertheless, Twitter had its fun mocking the actor.Rob Lowe just rooting for a good game and success of the league— Big Cat (@BarstoolBigCat) January 20, 2020hey Rob Lowe which team are you rooting for“uhhh… the NFL”— Rodger Sherman (@rodger) January 20, 2020hi I’m Rob Lowe and when I watch football I root for the [checks hat] NFL— shauna (@goldengateblond) January 20, 2020Rob Lowe’s favorite player is Roger Goodell— PFF (@PFF) January 20, 2020“Glad Rob Lowe got my hat in the mail”— Bryan Fischer (@BryanDFischer) January 20, 2020Rob Lowe’s favorite NFL star is the guy who does video replay.— SportsPickle (@sportspickle) January 20, 2020Rob Lowe loves all 32 teams equally— Curtis Rogers (@AKidFromKent) January 20, 2020Rob Lowe is literally the only person who owns an NFL hat— Andrew Joseph (@AndyJ0seph) January 20, 2020When Rob Lowe goes to a concert instead of getting a souvenir band t-shirt he just gets a shirt that says “music”— Scott Williams (@jswilliams1962) January 20, 2020 Typically you’d only see such hats worn by officials during a game. But for some reason, Lowe owns this piece of merchandise (or it was given to him by the NFL for all his camera time on Fox’s broadcast) and thought it was the perfect accessory to add while attending today’s game. Lowe is a Colts fan, so it makes a little sense why he’s not wearing a 49ers hat or a cheesehead to support the Packers.MORE: Highlights and more from 49ers vs PackersAlso, he’s likely only in attendance as part of a branding deal with Fox as the network promoted its television show “9-1-1: Lone Star,” which stars Lowe, throughout the broadcast. Actor Rob Lowe was in attendance for the NFC championship game between the 49ers and Packers, and he was sporting some interesting attire.last_img read more

Two Quarantined Centers at Soul Clinic Community Get Anti-Ebola Materials

first_imgThe Soul Clinic Community in Paynesville, badly hit by the Ebola crisis, was recently the proud recipient of critically needed anti-Ebola virus materials valued at US$3,700.00 from Alfalit-Liberia and Liberia-Ghana Missions.Several community leaders who attended the presentation ceremony on Monday described the humanitarian gestures of the two non-profit entities as a complete rescue mission intended to save the lives of fellow Liberians. It may be recalled since August 2014, Soul Clinic Development Association (SCDA) as part of its Ebola awareness initiatives, quarantined several families suspected of  Ebola infection. The SCDA leadership, headed by administrator and educator Jonathan Enders, disclosed that the quarantining action was carried out through extensive consultations with the affected families. On top of the pathetic situation of the quarantined families was acute shortage of food and critically needed anti-Ebola materials and essential sanitary pads.Chairman Enders also claimed that several SOS calls had been made to the relevant Liberian Government agencies and partners for urgent assistance for those quarantined, but there was no good response. The scarce resources from the coffers of the SCDA were partly used to cater to obtain critically needed food and materials needed by the quarantined Liberians.Chairman Enders further disclosed that the SCDA leadership was able to initiate a self-help contact tracing and teaching venture that led to the identification of several suspected, probable and confirmed cases of the deadly Ebola virus in the Soul Clinic Community in Paynesville. He also disclosed that one of the quarantined homes was closed on Monday after three weeks or 21 days of observation, treatment and monitoring of the suspected, probable and confirmed infected household members. He also indicated that there were places that were established for five weeks without food and appeals were sounded. Alfalit-Liberia and LGM were among the few who came to help the infected Liberians at Soul Clinic Community. The food and anti-Ebola materials donated by Alfalit-Liberia and LGM will be distributed in several affected communities and not only in the Soul Clinic Community.  “We did not quarantine those Liberians for them to die, rather to save our precious Liberians’ lives at the Soul Clinic Community in Paynesville,” Chairman Enders concluded. In remarks, the Program Officer of Alfalit-Liberia, George Stewart, recounted the sound leadership of Chairman Enders and team in the extensive fight against the deadly Ebola virus in the country.Mr. Stewart pointed out that for the past couple of days and weeks the LGM and Alfalit-Liberia had seen the need for the Soul Clinic Community in its efforts to eradicate the deadly Ebola virus. The LGM and Alfalit-Liberia leaderships are aware that the Ebola virus is not only killing our people but has also stretched the Liberian economy to the limit.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img read more
