Two Quarantined Centers at Soul Clinic Community Get Anti-Ebola Materials

first_imgThe Soul Clinic Community in Paynesville, badly hit by the Ebola crisis, was recently the proud recipient of critically needed anti-Ebola virus materials valued at US$3,700.00 from Alfalit-Liberia and Liberia-Ghana Missions.Several community leaders who attended the presentation ceremony on Monday described the humanitarian gestures of the two non-profit entities as a complete rescue mission intended to save the lives of fellow Liberians. It may be recalled since August 2014, Soul Clinic Development Association (SCDA) as part of its Ebola awareness initiatives, quarantined several families suspected of  Ebola infection. The SCDA leadership, headed by administrator and educator Jonathan Enders, disclosed that the quarantining action was carried out through extensive consultations with the affected families. On top of the pathetic situation of the quarantined families was acute shortage of food and critically needed anti-Ebola materials and essential sanitary pads.Chairman Enders also claimed that several SOS calls had been made to the relevant Liberian Government agencies and partners for urgent assistance for those quarantined, but there was no good response. The scarce resources from the coffers of the SCDA were partly used to cater to obtain critically needed food and materials needed by the quarantined Liberians.Chairman Enders further disclosed that the SCDA leadership was able to initiate a self-help contact tracing and teaching venture that led to the identification of several suspected, probable and confirmed cases of the deadly Ebola virus in the Soul Clinic Community in Paynesville. He also disclosed that one of the quarantined homes was closed on Monday after three weeks or 21 days of observation, treatment and monitoring of the suspected, probable and confirmed infected household members. He also indicated that there were places that were established for five weeks without food and appeals were sounded. Alfalit-Liberia and LGM were among the few who came to help the infected Liberians at Soul Clinic Community. The food and anti-Ebola materials donated by Alfalit-Liberia and LGM will be distributed in several affected communities and not only in the Soul Clinic Community.  “We did not quarantine those Liberians for them to die, rather to save our precious Liberians’ lives at the Soul Clinic Community in Paynesville,” Chairman Enders concluded. In remarks, the Program Officer of Alfalit-Liberia, George Stewart, recounted the sound leadership of Chairman Enders and team in the extensive fight against the deadly Ebola virus in the country.Mr. Stewart pointed out that for the past couple of days and weeks the LGM and Alfalit-Liberia had seen the need for the Soul Clinic Community in its efforts to eradicate the deadly Ebola virus. The LGM and Alfalit-Liberia leaderships are aware that the Ebola virus is not only killing our people but has also stretched the Liberian economy to the limit.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img read more
