Melanie May | 14 October 2016 | News Microsoft calls for ‘a cloud for global good’ Microsoft is campaigning for the formation of a ‘cloud for global good’, with the publication of a book on the subject announced earlier this month. In a speech given in Dublin on 3rd October (see main image), Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said that it was incumbent on companies like Microsoft, the broader tech community, and on governments to look at new technologies and ask if they are going to benefit everyone on the planet. As a result, he said, Microsoft had published a book, A Cloud for Global Good, containing ideas and policy considerations to help organisations come up with ways to use technology to help global growth in a way that is more trusted, responsible and inclusive.According to a blog post on the subject by president and chief legal officer Brad Smith, A Cloud for Global Good sets out a three-part framework that focuses on ‘creating a trusted, responsible, and inclusive cloud that will help ensure that technology benefits everyone, not just the fortunate few’.It includes 78 policy recommendations in 15 areas ranging from privacy, security, and safety to environmental sustainability, artificial intelligence, and education and jobs skills training. It also offers Microsoft’s view of the need for a broad-based approach by governments, coupled with a strong sense of shared responsibility and action by the private sector and offers suggestions about the steps governments, the tech industry, and civil society can take to build a cloud that serves the broader good.  151 total views,  1 views todaycenter_img AddThis Sharing ButtonsShare to TwitterTwitterShare to FacebookFacebookShare to LinkedInLinkedInShare to EmailEmailShare to WhatsAppWhatsAppShare to MessengerMessengerShare to MoreAddThis9  152 total views,  2 views today AddThis Sharing ButtonsShare to TwitterTwitterShare to FacebookFacebookShare to LinkedInLinkedInShare to EmailEmailShare to WhatsAppWhatsAppShare to MessengerMessengerShare to MoreAddThis9 Advertisementlast_img read more
