IPL: Dinesh Karthik becomes first wicket-keeper to pull off 100 dismissals

first_imgDinesh Karthik became the first wicket-keeper in the history of the Indian Premier League to pull-off a century of dismissals when he took a wonderful catch, flying to his right to get rid off Manan Vohra of Kings XI Punjab in Rajkot.Karthik has played 145 matches and taken 74 catches and stumped 26 people to reach the landmark.He has represented five franchises so far in the last 10 season. He started off with the Delhi Daredevils followed by Kings XI Punjab, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and currently he represents the Gujarat Lions.The wicket-keeper batsman has been decent with the bat, scoring 2,732 runs at an average of 24.39 with a highest of 86.The 31-year-old has been in good form this season, hammering 190 runs from seven matches till now. He scored 58* off just 44 balls today for Gujarat versus the Kings XI. However, the day didn’t end on a happy note for him as Gujarat lost to Punjab by 26 runs.MS Dhoni follows him next with 94 dismissals, with 65 catches and 29 stumpings. While Robin Uthappa (80), Naman Ojha (71) and Adam Gilchrist (67) complete the top five.Gujarat, who are currently last in the table, will next play the Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 27.last_img
