first_imgIndia vice-captain Rohit Sharma has highlighted the importance of Hardik Pandya ahead of the 2019 Cricket World Cup and reckons that the all-rounder will play a big role for the team in the showpiece even which starts on May 30.Hardik Pandya was embroiled in controversy earlier this year after he appeared on the TV show, Koffee with Karan. He was criticised for his sexist comments on the show and was also provisionally suspended by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the same.But Hardik overcame the problems in his personal life following the episode and bounced back strong in the Indian national team and has been in terrific form for the Mumbai Indians as well in the ongoing Indian Premier League.His recent success in white-ball cricket also earned him a spot in India’s 15-member World Cup squad. Speaking about Hardik’s comeback, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma said the Baroda cricketer was disappointed with what was going on in his personal life a couple of months back but he never lost the confidence in his game despite all the issues.”Whatever happened in his personal life was very disappointing for him.
