If no, then we can carry on.”United’s fiercest rivals are in tussle for the 2018/19 Premier League trophy but for Fortune’s Red Devils, the competition to even get a Champions League berth is formidable.Gone are the treble-winning days of Sir Alex Ferguson and behind the wheels now is Fortune’s former teammate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.Solskjaer, hand-picked by the club after Jose Mourinho’s miserable start to this season, has changed the atmosphere at the club and is also backed by Ferguson to drive the team to the glory days again.Recent results reflect a different tale to Solskjaer’s start to life as a manager at the club, but 41-year-old Fortune believes the Norwegian is the right man for the job.”Ole was an amazing teammate. We knew, when we gave him the ball, he’ll score. It wasn’t luck – he was just like (Cristiano) Ronaldo, putting in the hard work at training. I saw the same determination and attention to detail in Ole as a manager,” said Fortune, who was at the Shiv Nadar School here on Saturday to be a part of the Manchester United Soccer School programme.”I think my period, when I worked with him at Cardiff City; he had a great way of speaking to players. Ole is usually quiet, but he also had another side to him. He can be very tough at times and I think it is this side he doesn’t want people to see. Ole can take care of himself, he’ll let players know when they are not playing well while motivating them to do better,” added the South African.advertisementFortune had the chance to meet Solskjaer during the time he took over the reign from out-going Mourinho.Speaking about his experience from the training ground, the former midfielder added: “Yes, I spoke to him. I went to the training centre a few times. It was joy to see him with the players. They had been through difficult times with the previous manager. The place was down and body language was also down, it was a negative environment.”And as soon as Ole came in, he changed the environment. The energy changed. People started believing again. Ole reminded the players that they’re playing for Manchester United. It’s the most amazing blessing. The red jersey means everything. You can see the attitude was unbelievable,” he said.Fortune doesn’t expect change overnight, with the team currently struggling to find form. He believes, with the presence of Sir Ferguson in the stands, Solskjaer will be able to get United back to the top.”Of course, why would you not want to have someone like the boss (Ferguson) around you? I would call him every day and talk about things. It’s always good to have a presence on top of you, especially of someone like the boss and hopefully it will work for the club,” he concluded.Get real-time alerts and all the news on your phone with the all-new India Today app. Download from Post your comment Do You Like This Story?
