Probe on sharing unverified threat alert sent to tourism authorities

The Police say an investigation has been launched over an internal document sent to Sri Lanka tourism authorities on an unverified threat alert, being shared on social media.Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekera said that the information on the unverified threat had been obtained by a Police officer and that was shared with the relevant authorities. He said the information had also been shared as an internal document at the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA). Gunasekera said that she has been questioned by the Police and the Criminal Investigations Department will take over the investigations. (Colombo Gazette)
